Ingredients
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, diced
1 rounded Tbsp garlic, minced
1 lb lean ground beef
2 cups water
1 rounded Tbsp paprika
1 rounded Tbsp chili powder
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp kosher
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp yellow mustard
1 cup ketchup
Directions
In a medium sauce pot, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onions and sauté until they start to soften. Add garlic and cook for one minute. Remove from heat and add ground beef. Break up meat into chunks and add water to cover. Return to heat and continue breaking apart ground beef until fine. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low and very gently simmer for 2 hours or until water has reduced by half, stirring occasionally.
Add paprika, chili powder, pepper, and salt, stir to combine. Add Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and ketchup, stir to combine. Continue gently simmering for 1 hour, stirring often.
